According to the city hall’s epidemiological bulletin, by the end of June they confirmed 6,551 cases of dengue. In the entire past year, 2,026 records of the disease were registered.

More than half (3,091) of the cases were confirmed in April. In June there were 331 occurrences. Last year a person died of dengue. This year there have been no victims so far.

The City of São Paulo attributed the high number of cases to the seasonality of the disease, which shows an increase in the number of infections in cycles of one or two years after two or three years with a decrease in occurrences.

“The last epidemic year, both in the city and in the state of São Paulo and Brazil, was 2015. In 2019, there was an increase in notifications and confirmed cases, however, with medium transmission in the capital, which in 2020 was not observed, because there was low transmission”, informed the Municipal Health Department.
