Breakfast spot near Fleet St?

Well be staying at PI Blackfriars in July. My dh loves diners/greasy spoons in North America, not just for value but for a particular slice of culture. (In the US South, he loves the Waffle House chain, if that gives you an indication--though chains arent normally the best bet for this type of thing.) Will we find an equivalent in London? For example, this little place looks a treasure, and we might make it when we go to Borough Mkt, but would love to know if theres something closer to our hotel. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d2646413-Reviews-My_Tea_Shop-London_England.html My Tea Shop.

Theres a cafe called Hilliards (I think) on the way towards the Temple. We havent tried because were usually in the area at weekends and its closed.

A fascinating pub not a greasy spoon, but closest place to your PI for breakfast.

We dont really have anything that compares to Waffle House, but there are some greasy spoons in the area. Franks Cafe is the other side of the river in Southwark Street.

My Tea Room is commendable, but tiny. Eight seats, as I recall and theyre always full up

My Tea Shop is excellent, but as Dicanio says its tiny.

Another great place actually in Borough Market is Marias Market Cafe - https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d2479500-Reviews-Maria_s_Market_Cafe-London_England.html

Another one (not in the Blackfriars area) is the Breadline Cafe, just behind Trafalgar Square - https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d2098680-Reviews-Breadline_Sandwich_Bar-London_England.html

Im not aware of any greasy spoons immediately close to Blackfriars. Others of course may/will know better.

Try La Forchetta, Cowcross Street and right by Smithfield Meat market. Great full English breakfasts and not far from Blackfriars.
