  • Jazzs Jared Butler: Signs with Jazz

    Rotowire

Butler signed his rookie contract with the Jazz on Wednesday, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

Despite Butler not participating in Summer League, it appears that Utah has seen enough to make the 40th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft a part of the roster. Butler averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game last season with Baylor, and he should compete for a spot in the rotation as a reserve right away.

  • Jazzs Jared Butler: Out for Summer League

    Rotowire

Butler will not participate in the Summer League this season, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports.

The second-round draft pick will sit out Summer League action as the Jazz attempt to manage his usage. The guard evidently has not went through the physical rigors of game play in some time so the team is instead slowly getting him up to game speed in practice. No injury was listed as part of this decision, so its likely a precautionary measure after Butlers team ultimately played through, and won, the NCAA championship.

  • Jazzs Eric Paschall: Traded to Utah

    Rotowire

Paschall was traded to the Jazz from the Warriors on Wednesday for a protected future second-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

The 24-year-old played 10.2 less minutes per game during his second year, averaging 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Paschall wound up the odd man out after the Warriors drafted Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody in the first round and signed Nemanja Bjelica in free agency. In Utah, the Villanova product will fall behind the likes of Rudy Gay and Joe Ingles on the depth chart.
